2026 Summer CONCERT

The Australasian Orchestra’s (AO’s) opening concert of 2026 on Sunday 1st March will be a truly grand affair, featuring Sergei Rachmaninov‘s (Rachmaninoff’s) simply incredible and utterly moving Symphony No. 2! Also in the concert will be the brand new orchestral version of Cascades by Melbourne’s Jessamie Kaitler, plus wonderful soprano soloist Piera Dennerstein performing three exquisite songs by Debussy, Leoncavallo, and Bizet with the orchestra (as listed below). 2026 WINTER CONCERT
TCHAIKOVSKY R&J, DEBUSSY’S PRELUDE, WORLD PREMIERE of Large Hugh CROSTHWAITE work – 2pm SUNDAY 26th July 2026
AT: James Tatoulis Auditorium, Methodist ladies’ College, 207 Barkers Road, Kew, Vic.
For its winter season for 2026, the Australasian Orchestra (AO) will open the concert with the beloved and timeless works of the Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Prélude l’Après-midi d’un fauna (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun) by Claude Debussy. Very excitingly, the concert’s 2nd half will comprise the world premiere of a brand new symphonic work written for the orchestra by Hugh Crosthwaite. The new work will be around 30 minutes long and promises to be musically very exciting and emotional, as were the previous work’s of Hugh’s performed by the orchestra.
