The first concert of the Australian & Asian Orchestra’s 2015 season featured magnificent music from both Eastern and Western Cultures.

The program opened with an exciting rendition of von Reznicek’s Donna Diana Overture to be followed by orchestrated arrangements by conductor Robert Dora of traditional Korean and Malaysian works.

Tony Gould, Australia’s iconic classical and jazz pianist joined the orchestra to present an unforgettable performance of the hauntingly beautiful Gymnopédies of Eric Satie followed by an enjoyable and much appreciated solo improvised medley of well known musical numbers.

After the interval selections from Prokofiev’s challenging and beautiful Romeo and Juliet Suites were superbly dealt with by the orchestra together with a powerful tantalizing excerpt from the challenging new Symphony to an ANZAC by conductor/composer Dora which will feature in the orchestra’s coming March 29 concert entitled ANZACS Untold at the James Tatoulis Auditorium, MLC Kew.
