DESTINY – Sunday 25th February 2018, 2pm
The Australasian Orchestra’s ‘premiere’ concert of 2018 was highly successful as the orchestra passionately performed Tchaikovsky‘s joyous Symphony No. 4 and Verdi‘s grand The Force of Destiny Overture along with the concert’s two solo works. The highly talented flautist Adam Richardson gave a tantalising performance of Carmichael‘s Phoenix Flute Concerto, a highly difficult work for flute as well as for orchestra. This concert also saw the introduction of gifted young violinist Christian Li who gave a mesmerising performance Wieniawski‘s delightful Polonaise in D major in what was his first ever solo performance with an orchestra (or ensemble). Shortly thereafter he joint won the 2018 Menuhin Junior Competition in Geneva.
